All of the money raised by Barrie will be divided equally between The Alexandra League of Friends and Mencap. Here, we would like to tell you a little bit about each of these worthwhile charities. For further information just follow the links at the end of each section.
The Alexandra League of Friends
Established in 1986 when the Hospital opened, our aim is to provide equipment and services for the Patients and Staff of The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, Worcestershire.
Our main sources of Income are from our Coffee and Flower Shops, as well as from public donations. We also run a very successful Summer Fete.
We have nearly 1000 members, who receive a quarterly newsletter that keeps them up to date with our activities.
Nearly 300 volunteers from all ages and from all walks of life willingly provide their time to help us achieve our aims. Voluntary activities include helping in the shops, flower arranging, broadcasting, library duties, gardening, helping on the wards and assisting patients to Communion Service.

Mencap
Mencap is celebrating 60 years of achievement in 2006/7.
Mencap is the UK's leading charity working with children and adults with a learning disability and their families and carers. We fight to end discrimination and prejudice, and providing a wide range of quality services.
There are around 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK.
Learning disabilities have many different causes but are always lifelong. A learning disability can affect someone's life in many ways, causing difficulties in learning, communicating or doing everyday things. A learning disability does not prevent someone from learning and achieving a lot in life, if given the right support.
If you would like to follow in Barrie's footsteps and undertake your own exciting challenge, Mencap have an exciting programme for 2006-2007
